Anders Wijkman

Club of Rome, International Resource Panel, Climate-KIC Foundation, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

Anders Wijkman is a Swedish opinion leader and author.

He is the Honorary President of the global think tank, the Club of Rome. He is a member of the International Resource Panel (IRP), a UN-appointed expert body established "to build and share the knowledge needed to improve the use of our natural resources worldwide." He is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Climate-KIC Foundation, an EU-level innovation program aimed at helping Member States transition to low-carbon economies. He is also the chairman of Viable Cities, a Swedish innovation program with a similar focus.

Anders has served as a member of both the Swedish Parliament and the European Parliament. Additionally, he was the Secretary General of the Swedish Red Cross, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, and Policy Director of the UNDP.

He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as a member of the World Future Council.

Anders is the author of several books, including:

  • Natural Disasters: Acts of God or Acts of Man? (Earthscan, 1984)
  • Bankrupting Nature, co-authored with Johan Rockström (Routledge, 2012)
  • Come On!, co-authored with Ernst von Weizsäcker (Springer, 2018)
  • A Finer Future: Creating an Economy in Service to Life, co-authored with Hunter Lovins, John Fullerton, and Stewart Wallis (New Society Publishers, 2018)

He was also a contributing author to Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, published by the Club of Rome in 2022.
