
Ash Sharma is the fund manager of ACCTIF a SEK 300 million fund, on behalf of the Swedish Energy Agency to build a portfolio of Article 6 investments in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He was previously Vice President, Head of Special Funds and the Carbon Finance at the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (Nefco) in Helsinki and has worked extensively with the Nordic governments and the private sector on carbon finance for over two decades.
Ash has been a pioneer in the carbon markets since 2000, working on the earliest Clean Development Mechanism projects in Africa and Joint Implementation in eastern Europe, for clients including the World Bank, European Commission, WWF/Gold Standard and all five Nordic governments. In 2005, he established Nefco’s carbon fund management business and was the Fund Manager for three regional and global climate finance instruments with assets under management exceeding EUR 280 million and delivering 32 million carbon credits.
Mr Sharma was Chair of the Nordic Council of Minister’s working group on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, the Nordic Initiative for Cooperative Approaches 2019-2025 and is a member of the Advisory Council of the Clean Cooking Alliance Responsible Carbon Finance Initiative, since 2023.
He has served on various international climate change and energy steering and working groups for Nordic Council of Ministers, UNEP, World Bank, G8 and G20 etc and has been an adviser to the European Commission, Innovate UK and the Climate Policy Initiative.
