Erik Sandersen
Erik Sandersen is the incoming CEO of Norfund, Norway's development finance institution, a role he assumes on 1 July 2026. He brings 25 years of experience in finance, the last decade of which he has spent leading Norfund's Financial Inclusion department - investing in banks, microfinance, and fintech across emerging markets with a focus on job creation in small and medium-sized enterprises.
In his new role, Sandersen will oversee Norfund's three mandates: its original development mandate targeting poverty reduction through private sector investment, the Climate Investment Fund under management since 2022, and the Ukraine Fund established in December 2024.
Prior to joining Norfund in 2014, Sandersen spent ten years as co-founder and partner at a Norwegian venture capital firm, and has earlier experience from Boston Consulting Group and the IT sector. He holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from NTNU and an MBA from Stanford University.
