Johnny Huang (Huang Zhong) is Co-Founder and Asia Executive Director of the Sustainable Finance Institute (SFI), an applied-research platform that channels institutional capital into resilient infrastructure and frontier climate technologies. Over a 25-year career spanning aerospace, IT, and climate tech, he has fused systems-engineering discipline with financial innovation to advance sustainable development.
Within the UN system, Mr Huang is Secretary-General of the Sustainable Cities & Sustainable Finance Working Committee under the UN SDGs & Leadership Development Center and Founding Director of the preparatory office for ARISE China, where he mobilises private-sector engagement in disaster-risk reduction.
He lectures on Sustainable Finance and Climate-Tech Ventures at Yale University, HKUST, and Tongji University, mentoring the next generation of climate entrepreneurs, investors and policymakers.
Mr Huang has advised WIPO, UNDRR, CECEP, Pertamina, and the Danish Innovation Center on sustainable finance, renewable energy, circular-economy solutions, and resilience analytics. Whether structuring an urban-resilience bond or guiding a family office’s first climate-tech fund, he blends technical rigour with market insight to ensure finance prices both risks and opportunities—helping cities and economies not only withstand shocks but thrive.
