Jonathan Barfod

Partner & Head of Equity Investments – Pareto Alternative Investments AS

Jonathan Barfod has over 15 years of experience with investing in logistics real estate, including management of the largest logistics real estate portfolio in Norway. He has been an advocate for realizing the full potential of energy investments in the logistics real estate space – a segment dominated by massive and mostly empty roofs with great potential for large-scale solar projects. Jonathan and his team have transformed logistics real estate assets to net energy positive, with production significantly exceeding consumption and the energy rating improving from E to A. Over the last years he has led the initiative to invest over NOK 600 mill. in solar panels and batteries co-located with real estate in the Nordics (roof and façade). This includes Norway’s largest solar facility at Ahlsell’s logistics HQ in Eidsvoll, with a total installed capacity of 7.5 MWp. He took the initiative to establish Pareto Solar Fund in 2022, which invests in solar and batteries behind-the-meter on large real estate assets. The fund offers energy-as-a-service to landlords and tenants in the Nordics and has raised capital from Norwegian institutional investors. Mr. Barfod holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor in Management from the University of York.
