Olga Gassan-zade
Member of the Article 6.4 Supervisory Body, UNFCCC
Olga Gassan-zade is a senior Article 6 expert and a member of the Article 6.4 Supervisory Body (SBM), the UN body responsible for overseeing multilateral carbon markets under Article 6.4 of the Paris Agreement. She also served as the Chair of the SBM in 2023, leading the development of guidance for Article 6.4, which was delivered to the Conference of the Parties in Dubai.
Since joining the SBM in 2021, Olga has been actively involved in the development of Article 6.4 standards and procedures, including those covering methodologies, baselines, removals, and sustainable development safeguards.
As an Article 6 negotiator from Glasgow to Baku, she worked on developing the modalities and procedures for Article 6 adopted by the Parties as part of the Article 6 rulebook.
Beyond her work with the UNFCCC, Olga supports national authorities and companies in building institutional capacity for low-carbon planning, greenhouse gas mitigation, accounting, and carbon pricing. She is also a UNFCCC-certified Article 6 Technical Expert Reviewer.
